[And open it does, and Steve comes out, nudging the dog back into the apartment. He's going out to get a coffee and get some sketching done]

Oh, hello, Howard.

[ Even he can't help breaking out a smile for Captain America. ]

It's my day off, I'm not heading anywhere specific. Are you waiting for me?

Been doing some thinking, came to the conclusion that I've been abandoning you. It ain't sitting right.

The boss's got me working on some new weapons he designed.

[ He shrugs. He does nothing but work. But that reminds him of one of the things he wants to bring up. Eventually. ]

Do you need a vacation? The beach here is pretty good.

Vacation, huh? I've not had one of them since the folks were around, and even then I never knew what to do on 'em.

[ He backs up, walks with him down the hall. ]

What you do on one is build a sand castle and eat ice cream and corn dogs and ride on the Cyclone at Coney Island until you hurl.

[This is a familiar thing, okay? He leads them out the building.]

[ He looks as if he would love to do these things, but it's a foreign concept to him. The fresh is nice, though, and he takes a deep breath when they reach the streets. ]

Might have to try it one'a these days.

That's kind of the point, Howard.

[He looks over at Howard for a moment]

I got a job over there at City Solutions. Tony wants me to do security. Says I can wear my armor and everything.

Let me get my head around the idea and I'll get back to you on the beach thing.

[ He looks at Steve, then, and he actually looks too pleased. ]

Yeah? Guess I'm gonna be seeing you 'round the place a lot then.

I'll try not to bother you.

Bother me? [ He looks as if he wants to laugh at the idea. ] You'd never be bothering me, Cap.

I think you're being generous, Howard.

[He just smiles a little, though]

Everything all right, though?

Nah, I've always got time for you.

[ He means it, thinks if anyone is bothering anyone, it would be the other way around. But he isn't one to show his insecurities. ]

Sure, why wouldn't they be?

[ But there is something bugging him. Well, two things. ]

Well, usually people knock when they want to see me, but you were kind of just hovering around the door.

[ He opens his mouth, goes to start and say something, but then stops, hesitates, and goes for something else instead. ]

The head guy at City Solutions, Tony Stark, y'know him, right?
