Well.

I went out today to see if I could help with the fact that there's no sun, and I saw this man making lightning and cutting himself, and he was terrorizing the entrance to the underground, so I told him to cut it out. He cut himself and tried to hit me with lightning, but I blocked it, and after I managed to get him somewhere safe where he couldn't hurt anyone else, I noticed that my shield feels right again!

So I guess it just had to be hit by lightning. But the fact that it feels normal makes me a whole lot calmer about this whole thing.

But really, try to use these powers for good, okay? Especially if you have to something terrible to make them work.

[If he did show, it'd be amusing to see how much of a smartass he was. Charlie's met worse people so her default reaction would probably be no reaction at all. At most, an eyebrow raise.]

Okay, so. We've established the 'when'. Now, where did you say you were from?

I've been there. Very briefly when I was ten. And it was more a drive through than a visit.

I remember it being kind of crowded. And I wanted to stop and look around but my grandfather and I were on a mission of sorts.

I plan on visiting, though. If---when I get home.

Nothing exciting. [Except that it is.] I had to tell a very important story to an impartial newspaper in hopes of getting some awful people out of my life and in serious trouble.

It didn't work.

It's a very long story. Think I can meet you somewhere sometime to tell you? I'm not sure I trust the network to not advertise everything.

[There was this whole bad Memory Theater incident last week.]

Yes. Yes, I do.

[And really, the only reason she's even considered telling him is she fears the Memory Theater curse will occur again. That and this guy is ridiculously nice. Which isn't fair. It's hard to not trust someone if they're being polite and nice.]

[Steve is wearing a button up and a pair of slacks, and he's eating a hot dog while he waits, because he gets hungry all the time.]

[Charlie understands that, perfectly. She has a crazy metabolism, too. She arrives shortly after Steve, hair for once not died back, wearing an off-white long sleeve shirt and a pair of jeans. Nothing flashy whatsoever.][She smiles slightly, hoping she remembered what he looked like properly and holy crap. He's very tall. And just ...big in general.]

[He smiles when he sees her.]

The one and only. [She grins in return, holding her hand out.] It's a pleasure to meet you in person.

[He shakes her hand]

Pleasure's mine. Would you like to take a walk?

I would. [She points towards the gardens.] Have you ever been in there?

Once or twice. Lead the way.

[She heads in, eying the different paths to take before heading down the rose path.]

Hope this one's okay. I've actually never set foot in here, before.

[He's taking a glance over the entire garden, out of habit]

Sometimes I walk around just to get a feel for the place.

Yeah? [Charlie's looking around as well, taking in small details and stopping on occasion. A mass of pale, purple roses catch her attention for a moment.] I haven't seen these in a while. My grandmother used to grow them.

Did your grandparents raise you, Charlie?

Yes. And, genetically speaking, they weren't my grandparents. Just a pair of kind people who saw an orphaned girl that needed taking care of. [She pauses, turning to face Steve with a mildly nervous look on her face.] It's a long story and a lot to take in. I'll tell you if you want to hear it.
