This is Captain Steve Rogers, reporting in. My coordinates are unknown, but the civilian population is high and mostly English-speaking. Technology is...[There's a pause]...way beyond even what Howard Stark had.

Did he really? My friend had one that could speak--er, in a sense, at least. But I don't think he could fly on top of it.

I think it was still in prototype. What did your friend's car say? Was it like a recording?

Yes, that's just it, actually! He spoke through the radio, and put together bits and pieces of music and things to say what he wanted. It was really quite clever how he did it, though it could get a bit tedious, too.

[PAUSE. Well that's new. And nifty!]

Sounds almost like someone at broadcasting was playing a trick on people, doesn't it?

It does, rather! And he did very much like to play tricks, too. Er, mostly on me, unfortunately, but he did eventually get over that.

Why on you, if it's all right to ask?

Oh, er...well, he was very fond of my friend, you see, and of course I was fond of my friend as well, and I think it was really just that he was a bit jealous, of sorts.

I see.

Oh, but I'm sorry, I've completely forgotten to introduce myself. My name is Rosella, and it's very nice to meet you. Are you new here, may I ask?

I just got here, I think. I barely have a shirt on my back, if you'll excuse my forwardness.

My goodness! Yes, I'm afraid the City does have a nasty tendency of doing that--oh, and you didn't fall in the Fountain, did you? I don't think I heard a splash.

If there's something you're in need of, though, there's a Welcome Center in the Square with a big blue sign, and you're welcome to go in and make use of the things inside. My friend set it up that way for just that reason, to make things a bit easier on the people who'd just arrived. And of course, I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have as best I can, if you'd like.

No, I managed to dodge that one. I came out of a building but...

[Pause. He must have run a lot faster than he thought]

Yes, I'm afraid that's just the sort of thing that happens, actually. When I first arrived, it was quick as a wink--I was walking with my brother one minute, and the next I was here.

I do think I see that Welcome Center you're talking about, though.

They're wonderfully helpful, too. There's clothes if you're in need of them, and food and drink if you're hungry, and they ought to have copies of the guide to the City, which will help to explain things a bit more plainly.

That all sounds terrific, honestly.

It's just the right thing to do, to try to help out however one can, isn't it?
