Hi, City.

I know I came in a few weeks ago, but it's been a long haul from home, and I've been getting used to things around here. How long does it usually take to get used to things around here, anyway? Everytime I feel even a little more settled, a curse comes along and the feeling goes away.

But at least I'm pretty sure I have this Network thing worked out. It's not too much different from my radio transmitter at home. Howard would probably love to see this thing, that's for sure.

But I do have a question, and it's going to sound strange, but...does metal around here work the way it does back in your world?

Hey when I got here I decided I didn't need to know too much shit about what happens in my world.

It's been okay. I picked up how to use these new phones with all the fuckin' features up the ass. And they got movies about dinosaurs that take over a park.

[It takes him a second to translate that to polite English]

[He's not sure if he wants to know if they have his pictures here or not]

You know...a place to see moving pictures? News, shorts, cartoons? Full length pictures?

Oh. A movie theater. Yeah we got movie theaters here, not too many though. Most people get their shit from the library or a store and take it home.

[Okay stop.]

This place is a couple decades ahead of yours. We got tapes now, you get the movie off the reel and put it on a tape that you can take back home and watch on your own TV.

[Leave Freddy alone he's so glad to not sound archaic when talking about VHS.]

[Sputter.] No. I don't live alone really. And you can talk at home, it's rude talkin' in a theater.

I guess things are different. I don't have a fancy television or anything, though, and definitely not one I can use for pictures. Sometimes I watch the broadcasts in the store window of Woolworths, if the President is talking, or something.

You can still do that here, we got TV shops.
